My Story

My career began in the vibrant city of Chicago, where I pursued my Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at Columbia College. Graduating with honors, I earned two Illinois Teaching Certificates: Type 03 for Elementary Teaching (K-9) and Type 09 for Secondary Teaching (grades 6-12), with endorsements in visual arts and computer applications. My passion for education and technology led me to develop a unique teaching style that integrates creativity, innovation, and practical skills.

After completing my studies, I moved to San Francisco, where I worked at several esteemed institutions, including Oakland Aviation High School and Maker Mart Academy. At Oakland Aviation High School, I served as the Director of Arts and Technology, teaching courses in Graphic Design, Technology Education, Digital Art, and Multimedia. My experience there solidified my commitment to blending artistic expression with technological proficiency.

At The Techshop, I designed and implemented a comprehensive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) curriculum for their summer camp and after-school programs. This role allowed me to teach various subjects, including computers, invention, design thinking, rapid prototyping, laser cutting, and 3D printing. My goal was to inspire students to think critically, solve problems creatively, and develop a passion for lifelong learning.

In addition to my work at educational institutions, I have also been a self-employed specialist and consultant, focusing on curriculum design, multimedia consulting, entrepreneurship, and technology integration. This entrepreneurial spirit led me to found Recreation Sound Systems, a company dedicated to developing innovative portable hardware solutions.

My commitment to education extends beyond traditional classroom settings. I have worked with several organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, and TechShop, where I taught technology education and provided mentorship to students from diverse backgrounds. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the educational landscape.

Currently, I am the Lead Teacher at the NGS (Next Generation Scholars) program, where I develop and teach English, Math, and Science curricula. My role allows me to work closely with students, guiding them through their academic journeys and helping them achieve their goals.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been working with students with special needs, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning differences. As a behavioral and social coach, I have seen remarkable improvements in my students' confidence, communication skills, and academic performance.

My approach to education is holistic, focusing on the individual needs of each student. I believe in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive. I also work with adults and founders, providing coaching and mentorship to help them achieve their personal and professional goals.

As I look to the future, I am excited to continue my work in education and explore new opportunities in occupational therapy. My passion for helping others, combined with my expertise in technology and creative arts, allows me to make a meaningful impact on the lives of my students.
